Clinical Nutritional Consulting
My primary service is examining clients' diets and educating them on how they can use food to its maximum healing potential to achieve their goals, whether that be to assist with a specific condition or to just increase energy and sense of wellbeing.
During an appointment, I may ask you to recall what you ate yesterday or what you normally eat in a day. I will then evaluate your current diet with your dietary needs/goals and provide ideas for healthy swaps or recipes, as well as prescribing specific diets if it suits your lifestyle.
The primary goal of clinical nutrition is to prescribe sustainable dietary changes to achieve your goals on a long-term scale, and to educate you so that you feel empowered and knowledgeable enough to do it on your own.
If you're the type of person that does well with being told exactly what you need to do and how to achieve it, then I recommend adding on a meal plan to your consult, which is sent out after asking questions about dietary restrictions, taste/cuisine preferences, etc. that you or your family have. I spend a lot of time ensuring that the chosen recipes will give you the most health benefits, while still being delicious. Just because you're on a diet, doesn't mean that all you can eat is salad!
If you would like a meal plan, simply book in for an appointment for 50% off or email email@example.com for a standalone meal plan - you will be emailed a questionnaire to fill out to make sure it is personalised just for you. Standalone prices: 7-Day Meal plan for $30 or 14-Day Meal plan for $50.
Environmental factors can have a huge influence on our health. Part of our consultation will be asking about your lifestyle, including: stress, work, physical activity, support networks, hobbies and sleeping habits. This helps to paint a bigger picture of you as a whole, allowing me to create a treatment plan that is truly individualised.
Your treatment plan will include some lifestyle recommendations that I believe will help you fast-track your goals by complimenting the dietary component of the plan.
You may also be recommended supplements for certain deficiencies or conditions. E.g.: if you have a gastrointestinal condition that causes you to absorb very little nutrients from your food and it is negatively impacting your energy, then supplementation will be recommended.
You may need to get testing done before being prescribed some supplements to make sure that it is safe first, depending on the supplement.
As mentioned above, pathology testing can be used to assess vitamin and mineral levels to see if there if a deficiency that needs to be addressed.
Testing can also be used as a strong motivational tool and to see palpable results from treatment. Sometimes it can take time to truly feel a difference, but blood results don't lie.
For most people, testing may not be necessary so it's best to talk to your nutritionist and GP about if you would like some tests done.
